What to expect.
Our half-day charter is the perfect introduction to the Bay of Islands — or a focused way to experience a specific part of it. We depart Russell Wharf in the morning, heading out through the protected inner bay before exploring the coastline at a relaxed pace.
Your skipper will tailor the route based on your interests and the day's conditions. That might mean anchoring at a secluded beach for a swim, drifting over a reef to snorkel, or simply cruising the coastline while your skipper shares the history and ecology of the Bay.
Four hours is enough time to genuinely explore — to find the spots that aren't on any tourist map, and to return to Russell feeling like you've actually experienced the Bay rather than just seen it from a distance.

What time does the charter depart?
Morning departures are typically 8:00am or 9:00am. We can accommodate afternoon departures on request, subject to availability.
Is this suitable for young children?
Yes. The half-day charter is well-suited to families with children of all ages. The inner Bay is generally calm and sheltered.
What happens if the weather is bad?
If the skipper determines conditions are unsafe, we will offer a full refund or reschedule at no additional cost.
